COVID Volunteering

COVID-19 Update: Due to social distancing, our new volunteer opportunities are still limited. We have however resumed with online volunteer intake.

June 25, 2020 Updated

Thank you for your interest in volunteering with Loaves and Fishes during these challenging days!

Life as we knew it radically altered due to COVID, and like everyone else, were forced to make drastic changes.  Happily, despite those rapid changes, we have continued meeting the needs of people, and from March 1st - June 25, have been able to provide more than $1.9 million dollars worth of food to our community and beyond!

It's been challenging to do that with our drastically pared down volunteer teams, but fortunately funding from the Victoria Foundation has allowed us to hire some temporary low-risk staff to fill the gaps, for which we are really grateful.

To help meet the ongoing needs to supply food, we have cautiously and thoughtfully been opening more volunteer shifts taking all provincial recommendations for safety into account.

Becoming a Loaves and Fishes Volunteer:

  • Attend an online volunteer orientation session

Volunteer Orientations are being held online at various dates and times of day. The orientation will help you to better understand our organization, the current opportunities available and is about 75 minutes long.  (Click HERE to read an article one inspired volunteer wrote after attending the orientation session.)
